It was great to see my former student, Lesya Collins, on the dance floor with me once again. Here’s our Argentine Tango.

News & Stories from Gia Viseli
Lesya Collins from Delaware was a student of mine back in my home country of Georgia. She recently stopped by the studio to check it out — and we, of course, had to dance!
Congratulations to David and Margaret who are taking dance lessons to show off a bit for their 66th wedding anniversary party. They will surprise their friends and family with some cool Swing dance moves to the song “In the Mood.” What a delightful couple! David is 91 years young and Margaret is 88 years young.
Inspiring us all and proving that dance is a joyful way to celebrate life.
Thank you for the privilege of teaching you some choreography for your special day!
Tuesdays at 3-4pm.

Okay teenagers — are you ready for some FUN this summer?!?
I’m putting together a class I think of as “Sizzling Salsa Dancing for Teens.”
I am flexible on days and times — just need to hear from 5-10 people who might like to learn some exciting moves on the dance floor.
Let me know if you’re interested. NO prior dance experience is needed, and no partner is needed.
Let’s kick up our heels this summer and have a blast!
Text or call me at 302-252-8525.
THANK YOU to all the lovely ladies who come to my Ladies Latin Dance Class. With your input, I have divided the class so that from 6 to 7 pm all those new to dance can come (drop ins welcome any time), and from 7 to 8 pm those with dance experience can learn some sizzling new moves. We are working on Salsa and Mambo dance moves now. These are easily transferred to dancing as a couple at a club later.
You all did great! Know that in addition to gaining flexibility and strength, you are out having fun!
Join us Thursday nights for some sizzling fun on the dance floor.
Ladies only. Our spacious ballroom provides plenty of space for you and your lady friends to safely enjoy learning Latin dance moves. Gia leads the group through Salsa, Mambo, Cha Cha Cha and other dance moves. Lively music and a relaxing environment make this an hour you’re sure to enjoy. lady dancers
Drop ins welcome. Just $10 per person.
6-7 pm – Introductory class for those new to dance
7-8 pm – Intermediate class for those with some dance experience
Julia Roberts (the reporter, not the actress!) recently visited our studio and wrote this great article for the Fernandina Beach “News Leader.” Thanks, Julia — hope to see you return to our dance floor soon — and this time, bring your dance shoes!
If ever there were a year that kept us on our toes, it was 2020. The King’s Ball this year was more challenging than ever in a new, unusual way: dancing in the midst of a pandemic.
Our hosts, Rita Algarra and Igor & Polina Piliipenchak, took every possible precaution to keep us all safe and healthy. This included encouraging participants to have Covid testing prior to the event, performing extra sanitization measures, keeping dance couples farther apart on the floor and the first-ever VIRTUAL competition in addition to the live, ON-SITE dancing.
Virtual dancers only competed with each other, and on-site dancers competed with others there. This allowed many more to participate but obviously it was far from the typical way we would compete.
I tested negative for Covid before the event yet I still wanted to assure my student that dancing with me would only be a threat to other dancers, not her. So, I wore a mask in all competition performances. This proved to make breathing a bit difficult at times as we used double-ply masks for maximum protection. BUT, I can assure you I was breathing easy when the results were announced.
My extraordinary student competitor, Christina Amoroo Beringer, danced more than 64 times to earn the following:
- 1st place: WDSS Silver Ballroom (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot & Quickstep)
- 1st place: Closed Silver Smooth Scholarship (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot)
- 1st place: Closed Silver Smooth Challenge (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz)
- 1st place: WDSS Silver Smooth (W,T,F, VW)
- 1st place: Silver Latin (Cha Cha, Salsa, Rumba, Jive)
- 1st place: Closed Silver Latin Scholarship (CC, S, R, J)
- 2nd place: Closed Silver Latin Challenge (CC, S, R,J)
- 2nd place: Closed Silver Ballroom Scholarship (W,T,F,Q)
- 2nd place: Closed Silver Ballroom Challenge (W,T,F,Q)
Whew! Lots of dancing and lots of fun!
This December, Dancesport makes history!

If the excitement of making history, fabulous dancing and seeing some of the best in ballroom perform isn’t enough to get you excited – consider this: there is more the $75,000 in awards given in this event. Now doesn’t THAT get your feet moving?
Come to the Ritz Carlton to watch some of the top names in dancesport AND see dancers from all over the country as they strut their ballroom and Latin stuff on the dance floor in competition.
If you are new to ballroom dance, this is a great way to see what YOU could be doing this time next year!

Okay, I admit it. I really miss competing and performing this year. 2020 was a tough year on all dancers – but the new year is just around the corner, opening up lots of possibilities.
